Nathaniel Maloney: POETRY

Love

Written by Nathaniel Maloney

Your whimsical smile eludes me as you sail amidst the leaves of green

Where time reveals little of the tell tale endeavours of joyous love

Hidden somewhere silent in this throne of stones gathered by rivers of old

Forgotten I presume were dreams left long ago scattered far and wide

Left silent by times essence never to show a way beyond the tides change

Only to find the tears of the ocean crying for the land where it cannot stay

To you I accept, and to you I deny as I never will find a way to know the truth

For truth will lie and hold it’s disguise preying upon the ones who hold it close

But still your smile eludes me as you sail amidst the leaves of orange and red

When coldness calls and the leaves do fall I see the arms reaching barren

Under the stars and signs of old dancing in perfect time with the wind

Only to find that your smile eludes me as you sail amidst morning mist
